OBI ABATA – KOLANUT OR COLA ACUMINATA

Obi (obi Abata) – The kolanut or Cola Acuminata.
Obi Abata has been viewed by many as an ordinary fruit with little or no benefit. In reality, it has varied great benefits ranging from the physical advantages to mental usage, from spiritual usefulness to divine importance. Obi does not only serve as an object or instrument of divination, it also serves as a step toward having great sacrifice, initiations into various divinities, object used for prayer, rituals, propitiations, sanctification, purification, blessings and the likes. It is used to settle scores (disagreement) and it is given as a special gift to a foreigner, visitors and other important dignitaries in the society. It is an object that commands a special place in Ifá traditions and the religion of Olodumare. Obi(s) are given to new born baby as a symbolic representation of reactivating the destiny and ensuring manifestation of positive power, intuitive energy and strong vibration that deter evil manipulation and evil association to one’s destiny, most especially to the destiny of the child or baby in question. Obi is given as a special gift to a distant relation, family, friends, well wishers, visitors of esteem importance and higher pedigree, it is given as presents or gift to the chiefs, head of a town, captain of industries, heads of villages, head of any organization, leaders of cities, or countries, gift to the kings, queen, princes and princess alike that know its spiritual and divine value.

Obi also play a fundamental role in the settlement of dispute in life, How?, when a man is not aligned properly with his destiny, whatever he touches fail and all his steps take a contrary path, such a man needs to settle dispute with his destiny through the proper use of Obi. Obi is used in appeasing deities, divinities, so as to serve as guidance and protector of life at all levels of existence. Obi is a food for the soul and spirit, and it attracts enormous ancestral blessings to our lives. Obi is needed to feed our spiritual and divine terrain of life in order to yield a favorable and enormous approval from unseen level of existence into our lives.
However, we use Obi in propitiation of our head, (EBO ORI), and also in our daily prayer to Ifá or our daily personal prayer called ‘’AJIKI’’. The word ‘’OBI’’ means O-BI, translated, to remove, to push away, to deter, to eliminate and to prevent, hence; OBI becomes an object or symbol of removing or deterring evil or pushing away evil. According to Yoruba words, Obi ni bi iku, obi ni bi arun, obi ni bi gbogbo ibi danu laye eni, o wa bami bi ibi danu lori awo bayi Ifá,

Translated:
Obi, deters death,
Obi deters disease
Obi deters all evil manipulation and evil manifestation
Deter evil away from my life, deter evil from the lives of my loved ones, deter evil from my generation Oh yee IFA ORUNMILA BARA AGBONNIREGUN

Disciples of Olodumare must wake up very early in the morning to pray  to Olodumare, using obi to offer prayer to ORI and to all divinities, this is the daily sacrifice and ritual expected of all initiates and disciples of Ifá. Men feed their mouths daily, but the wise and the intelligence feed their spiritual and divine lives every-day and pass on the habit and tradition to his generation yet unborn. We must not just remember to feed our mouth and belly to satisfy our physical appetite, we must also feed our destiny, our soul and our spirit with the words of Olodumare, through prayer, (adura ajiki), isera (fasting from food), sacrifices (etutu), rituals (ebo), initiations (ITEFA), propitiations (Ebo Ori) and other spiritual means. Obi is a great and handy spiritual object valuable for all these spiritual interventions. In short, it is an object used in nourishing our spiritual partners.
Concerning the use of Obi, to feed our head or destiny, we will get a clean water, a white plate, and one or three Obi. We must be, in a sound frame of mind, take the Obi and touch the head with Obi, three times and pray that:
Obi ni bi ibi danu,
Obi ni bi arunbi gbogbo danu
Ori jowo bami se temi
Mo wa fun ori lobi tire bayi
Ki ibi oni, ibi ola, ibi ojo gbogbo ki o re danu lori awo
Ki ibi o ma se bami, tebi, tara, ati ojolumo mi
Ori abawaye ni se ni bo se wun
Ori mi, tetê já fun mi ni gbogbo ona
Ase

Translation of the prayer:
Obi reverse misfortune into a great fortune
Obi deters evil manipulation away from our lives
I have given you, and fed my destiny with Obi
Let evil and every contrary forces both at the physical and spiritual level move away from my life and destiny
Let evil move away from my life, my family, my relation, my well wishers
Man’s destiny determines his life path from the beginning of creation
On getting to the physical state, impatience becomes the order of the day.
Give me the spirit of patience and divine love to fulfil my destiny and the purpose of my creation.
Let my destiny fight for me

Ki ibi oni, ibi ola, ibi ojo gbogbo ki o re danu lori awo

ODU IFA FOR THE WEEK – OTURA OGBE

ODU IFA FOR THE WEEK – OTURA OGBE

May the power of Olodumare bless you. In most countries, today is the first day of the week. In Europe, the week starts tomorrow and in other countries like Arab nations the week started yesterday (Saturday is the starting day of the week in most Arab nations). As we have different vibrations guiding the year, so also various vibrations guiding and directing our steps on weekly basis or every week. Week in Ifá mythology and doctrine covers five days, Ifá is a culture,  religion,  custom, language and philosophy, ifa is the words of Olodumare and way of life that teaches us the divine existence of divinities, deities and humanity alike. Hence, imbibe this great culture into your life. ” Oroorun la n dafa ASEYORI lotun Ife”, meaning the spiritual consultation is performed every five days in the land of love and wisdom called Ile- Ife.

Last week we have started the year under the vibration OKANRAN OGBE. I’ve instructed you on how to use the vibration for your victory. The world is filled with energy and the cosmos is radiated with various energies and power. Now I’m sending you Odu for this week, – OTURA OGBE-.  To use and pray with the Odu, get Opon Ifá and mark the Odu on iyereosun, if you do not have Opon Ifá use white paper or white plate and mark Odu OTURA OGBE as follows:

I——–I
I——-II
I——–I
I——–I

Under this energy, Ifá advises us not to stay idle, we must do something to build our mental, emotional and the physical power in our life. Ifá says, we should not live without work, we must use our work to improve our lives and add value to the lives of others. We should not fritter our lives and our time like groundnut outer coat ( epo epa) , never associate with people that cannot positively influence your life or add value to your life . We should not allow laziness, indolence, idleness, gossip or doubt to destroy our destiny. Ifá says, ‘work’ added with spiritual steps is the foundation that lead to a successful life. Ifá emphasises on work as an antidote for poverty; lack; penury; fear and indulgence.
According to Ifá verse under Oturagbe:

Ese Ifá labe Oturagbe:
Ifá, jebo naa o fin
Ela, jebo naa o rode orun, gbure gbure
O pe titi ti mo ti n sise
Odun yi gan ni ise temi ma kore bami
A difa fun Ogun lakaye Osin imale
Onida peleja
Ogun onida meji, o fi kan san oko, o fi kan yena
Irunmole sise sise, irunmole agbele sise
Orisa a gbina sise ola
Ire gbogbo tehin wa momi
Omi titun a tehin wa beja lodo
Omi titun
Orunmila, mi o fi ise sere
Nitori, ise ni osupa nse lajule orun
Ise ni gbogbo irunmole nse lajule orun
Emi a ba won sise ola temi
Emi ba won sise, ki le n ba won segi ola ni temi
Ifá Orunmila. jeki ola mi o ba mi dojo ale
Ase.

Translation of the above verse under Oturagbe:
Ifá, let my sacrifices be accepted
Ela, let my rituals go to the heaven above
I have been working for long
This is the year of possible and sound reward
The reward of prosperity, wealth and riches
I must surely attract blessing of wealth this year
This divined Ifá oracle for Ogun, the god of iron
The owner of the sword of life
He used one to clear farm for the plantation and the other for clearing the path to victory
The divinity that says who is Ogun, will eat his food with his bare hand
That Ogun have a tremendous influence on other divinities and all human in general is not an over-statement
The deity that works from home
The spiritual messenger that first work in the farm and trend the path of brute force, success and prosperity
May prosperity and blessing of wealth overwhelm me from the back
Like a fresh and cool water revive a dying fish in the river
Oh, Yee! Orunmila, I did not joke with my work
Indeed, all the divinities work without rest in heaven
The moon works incessantly in the sky
I am working to be great and to possess enormous prosperity in life
Whoever work will become great and exceedingly wealthy in life
Oh, Ifá Orunmila, let blessing of prosperity and wealth be my lot till old age
Ase.

Ifá says, we should pattern our lives to the early working life of Ogun in creation. Ogun was seen as a fierce divinity and ferocious deity, hence work was used by Ogun to minimize his ferocious and aggressive attitude and work was used as a therapy for his lack of patience. Those with hyperactive nature should use work as therapy or medicine to minimize the negative effect of such attribute and action. Ifá sees work from the primordial order as a medicine for long life and as a mean to achieve personal growth, both on spiritual, emotional and physical level. Life without work is like raw gold without firing it into ornaments. Ifá says, to add value to our lives, we must work, work and work till the end of our existence in the physical state, which will later lead us to dwell in peace with divinities in the spiritual state of existence. Ifá says earthly work is an extension of heavenly duties, ISE LOSUPA NSE LORUN, meaning, the moon works incessantly also in heaven. Hence, Ifá advises all devotees, and disciples to work as long as they live. Ifá says, work is a double edge sword to fight anger, frustration, sickness, short life and also to fight poverty, stress and lack.

God bless you and bless your week.

OROGBO – A SPIRITUAL FRUIT

OROGBO

Just like any other Yoruba word, the word ‘orogbo’ is coined and it’s derived from two words – ‘oro’  and ‘gbo’ .  Oro means very small , round , minute, tiny,  while , ‘Gbo’ means longevity , eternal , timeless, undying , everlasting , perpetual. When the two words are joined together, it becomes a unified and spiritually blessed word called ‘Orogbo’  which consequently means  a round fruit that attracts everlasting blessing, enduring health and perpetual blessing of longevity. Orogbo is a male fruit energy that does not have lobes or parts like Obi. Orogbo can be cut into pieces either with teeth or knife, it has no parts, but a hard fruit that shows natural toughness and ruggedness.

The importance of orogbo as a spiritual item, fruit or material during initiation process; sacrifice; propitiation of head; during prayer and other essential spiritual activities cannot be quantified. Orogbo is used to pray for longevity, sound health, peace, harmony and happiness, apart from its natural health benefits and uses.   It is a spiritual seed  that establishes the power of divinities with abundant  trait of long life  and sound health.  Ifa devotees or seekers of truth through the tradition of Ifa are required to pray and eat part of this fruit to serve as alignment with the force and natural energies embedded in the nature.

The natural force of this blessed fruit align with the vibration of the body to transmute and trigger or induce abundant spiritual force in the whole body, thereby attaining secretly the sound health that the body requires to attain normal health.  Also, praying using Orogbo and eating a fractional part with iwure – that is prayer, means blessing, prosperity, abundant life, success,  longevity and sound health.

According to an IFA verse under Ogbe Ofun:
Ifa jebo naa o fin
Ela jebo naa o rode orun gbure gbure
Isu dape jale

Omo kekeke ni soro fun  agbalagba

Ela let my rituals go up to the heaven above
The yam grows into tuber during planting
The toad toil and stand on the ground
And call for heavy rain to moist the ground
The little children after propitiation and sound spiritual and physical education grow
And offer ritual and gratitude to the elders
Such that the elders would not suffer with old age
The young supports the elders and fend for them at old age
Stretching forward of the hand precede dancing
Evil utterances and nagging precede dispute and chaos
The fruits of orogbo precedes all sacrifice
Eating of orogbo precedes longevity
I have eaten orogbo, let me have a strong voice, sound health and long life
The heavenly mates have accepted my sacrifice of orogbo
Let the earthily companion be blessed with longevity and sound health
I have given sacrifice to my heavenly or spiritual mates
Let me live long in the plain of existence
I have given orogbo to divinity
Let all divinities support my course
Ela the greatest historian and the sage
Repair and remould my destiny
Whenever the hoe breaks, we give it to blacksmith for repairing
Oh ye Ela, the illuminated one, attract greatness, success and blessing to me
Whenever the cutlass breaks
We give it to the blacksmith to repair
Oh ye Ela, the historian of humanity, bless me with abundant success, progress and wealth
Ela o pitan repair and remould my destiny
Let my destiny fulfil its mission at all levels  of existence

PORTUGUESE.
OROGBO

Olodumare

 Iba Ire Olodumare!
Oba ateni legelege fori sapeji omi, meaning reverence to you my mighty Olodumare, the king that spread a thin mat using his head as rain fountain.
Who is Olodumare in the Yoruba conception or theology? Olodumare is the Creator of all divinities, deities, souls, spirits and other seen and unseen vibrations and energies in the Cosmos. These primeval deities were said to have descended through a mystical medium to the physical world thereby leaving Olodumare and the host of other divinities like Ajagunmale – Oluwo Ode Orun (that is ajagunmole, the chief priest of heaven), Aroyeweye (the wisest and the knowledgeable), and Adi Omo Elebu (the strong and the brave), with Ela opitan Ela Omo Osin (that is Ela the offspring of God) with other great divinities serving God in his highest glory and also helping humanity in their low state.
Olodumare is called Olofin Orun or Oluwa or Olorun, that is the great being of heaven. Olofin Orun was the first being to occupy the firmament. No one ever has the notion of his image, but we see and feel his greatness on daily basis. Just as Ogher great energies are unseen but serve all cretures in creation like air, Olodoumare is supported and the beginning of all things that ever existed and would exist in creation, Ifa speaks of the immense glory of Olodumare out of which odu the energy of his being  is extracted to serve and bless all things in creation. He is known as
“Oba Ti Ki Ku,
Oba Ti Kii Run,
Oba Ti Ki Toogbe,
Oba Ti Ki Sun,
Oba Olowo Gbogboro Ti Yo Omo Tire Lofin Aye”,
meaning:
The king that does not die,
would not die,
nor fall sick or ill forever,
the almighty that does not sleep nor slumber,
the being with immense power,
with great hand that cross out evil from the path of his creatures.
Hence a great reference to him on daily basis to connect him and ensure our survival in the jungle of life. Remember all rivers, stream and water must connect the great ocean so as to guarantee their survial and prevent their dryness likewise all cratures must daily connect  Olodumare through prayer and ogher spiritual steps to guarantee their survival.
May God bless you and bless your being and your loved ones today and forever.

Love for Olodumare

Ogbo ato.

What is the supreme, satisfying and unfailing practice which Ifá is awakening us to, and leading us to? The practice of unbounded devotion to Olodumare. After many days, weeks, months and years of Ifá study and reflection, what can we conclude that Ifá is? In the final analysis what is Ifá? In one word what is Ifá? Ifá is love. Ifá is truth, actual reality, caring and concern. Whose love? Whose caring? Whose concern? Ifá is the love, care, provision and concern of our true friend, mentor and heart companion Olodumare. Have you ever stopped to consider the fact that Olodumare pines, yearns and longs for you? Has it ever occurred to you that all that Olodumare does, he does so that you might understand and know that he loves, values, respects and cherishes you? Olodumare yearns, longs, pines and waits for your intelligent spontaneous response of gratitude, love and devotion.  When we outgrow our spiritual immaturity and self-preoccupation this reality becomes powerfully and personally revealed to our hearts and understanding. For our soul, inner capacity and need to love to find fulfillment, it has to have a living responsive person an an object to whom it can direct its love, care and concern who is able to reciprocate our feelings, affections and devotions in full. Who else but Olodumare can satisfy our longing for communion and completeness. We find fulfillment and realization in loving the Supreme One and receiving the divine love. The longing, love and affection in our hearts cannot satisfy itself. It needs to reach Olodumare and its needs to experience Olodumare so that we might know peace, fulfillment and satisfaction. Undoubtedly you have heard the name Olodumare and perhaps you have learned some things about Olodumare. But do you know Him? Do you know the glorious personality and attractive character behind the name? What do you really and personally know about Olodumare? How can you know Him? How can you know His reality and experience His love? Do you not know that in all your seeking for happiness, meaning, fulfillment and satisfaction through so many means you are in fact searching for Olodumare? You are seeking to know, understand and return to the Source of your being. Ifá says that “Olodumare is the king worth depending upon.” Olodumare is unlike human kings who want and demand to revered, acknowledged and served. Olodumare is the King who serves us wholeheartedly, lovingly and unselfishly. Is it possible for you to depend upon whom do not yet know? Theories and philosophical beliefs about Olodumare cannot and will not ever satisfy your heart, mind and life. Living contact with Olodumare alone can satisfy the depths and longings of your spirit. What to do? Where to begin? How do we begin to develop a deep love for Olodumare? First of all Olodumare has to be more real to you than your mother, father, brother, sister, friends and spouse! Only by practicing devotion to Olodumare in whatever present inner and outer condition we happen to be in, can the light of divine love, understanding and truth be kindled within us. This is why we fellowship together in the Ijo (the community of Ifá-Olodumare worshippers). In the association of other devotees is where we obtain and catch devotion, faith, love and fervor. Love for Olodumare cannot really be taught but it can be caught in the association of genuine devotees. What are the main features of devotion? Devotion does not look at your past. Devotion does not care if you were a drunkard, thief, liar or cheat. Devotion is not impressed with your affluence, connections, possessions, knowledge and power. Devotion is impressed by humility, simplicity, guilelessness and unpretentiousness. Where you were and how you presently are is not an obstacle at all to devotion to Olodumare. Olodumare will accept you as you are. There is no need for you to pretend to be other than who you are and where you are at the present moment. Just like a mother picks up and accepts her soiled child to then proceed to clean it up, so does Olodumare take us a we presently are without any objections. So from our side there is no reason to fear or worry that Olodumare will not take us and accept us as we are. There is no reason for us to pull away or withdraw from approaching Olodumare. We are dear to Olodumare and nothing but His love, kindness, acceptance and guidance can clean us up and make us experience a qualitative change and transformation at the root level of our being. The spirit of devotion does not care about and does not look into your past. The spirit of devotion cares about you now in the present and will take you as you are with the guarantee that she will cleanse, strengthen, transform and empower your life. On account of our weaknesses, imperfections, defects and past wrongful acts we have no reason to despair of the committed love and firm dedication of Olodumare towards us. The reason why our imperfections, defects and flaws are so glaring to begin with is because we are lacking the awareness, fullness and experience of divine love, real love. Devotion and sincerity towards Olodumare will transform an unwholesome, unworthy and embarrassing life into a revered, satisfying and honored life. Try it out and see for your self. Olodumare is not peering into your past. Neither is he keeping a list of past wrongs. He is not peering into your past and he has no lists. He has only love, concern and sympathy for you together with the power to do something about your troubles, sorrows and loneliness. Let us draw near to Olodumare without fear and with full confidence. Let us come to Olodumare with transparency and honesty. Let us come to Olodumare without attempting to hide anything from Him and without trying to justify past wrongs. Just as you are and where you are, cultivate devotion and sincerity towards Olodumare. Put pride and ego to the side altogether. Don’t project yourself to Olodumare other than what you are and where you are. Open your heart and mind to Olodumare. Share your thoughts, problems, gratitude and feelings with Him. With feeling and sincerity apply your heart and soul to speaking with Olodumare. This is sincere and genuine unbounded devotion. By so doing you will know and experience the relief, support and salvation of Olodumare. After arriving at Olodumare’s palace and having been accepted by Him it does not behoove us to go around knocking on other doors. Who can do more for you than Olodumare? Who can understand you more and sympathize completely with you more than Olodumare? Cultivate a living gratitude, love and respect for Olodumare, and his power, grace and presence will uphold you and transform your life. The reason we have lost our way and are easily overpowered by our passions and weaknesses, and have lost our genuine spiritual convictions is because we are too far removed from Olodumare. We are trying to live our lives with unverified and inexperienced second-hand information about Olodumare instead of knowing Olodumare directly for ourselves. Think about these things. When was the last time you raised up your hands and head to praise and glorify Olodumare and to communicate gratitude and dependence upon Him. When was the last time your heart was moved and stirred to joyful tears at the thought of the kindness, loyalty and friendliness of Olodumare? How many of our mistakes and shortcomings has Olodumare overlooked and forgotten about? This is what Ifá is inviting us to understand and cultivate. What will be your response?
The only way to reach, experience and know Olodumare is to ask for his asé (grace, presence and power). This asé is always available to us but because we live our lives distracted and so preoccupied with ourselves, petty matters and involved without being invited in the affairs of others that we lose sight of the fact of the ever present availability of the asé of Olodumare. This asé does not come to us from people but comes to us directly from Olodumare whenever we need it. Olodumare is only waiting for our sincere heartfelt devotion so that He can manifest Himself to us.
Olodumare has given us wonderful abilities, talents and faculties that we can apply and use advantageously for our benefit and the benefit of others. There are many useful, progressive and wholesome things we can use our talents, intelligence and abilities for, all on our own. But there is one thing that we cannot with our talents, intelligence, faculties and abilities do alone. We cannot reach Olodumare. We cannot reach Olodumare by unaided efforts. Only by and with the asé of Olodumare can we know Him and our true eternal divine identity. Our human intelligence, strength, will and abilities cannot themselves help us to reach and know Olodumare independently of the gift of asé (grace, power and presence) that is available to us from Olodumare when we humbly approach Him and request Him to supply us with His asé. Let us request from Olodumare this gift of asé together with the spirit of devotion. By so doing we will find and know the meaning and purpose of our lives. By so doing we will find fullness of satisfaction, delight, peace, joy and contentment.

Ogbo ato asure iworiwofun.

IWA

He who has undertaken the noble responsibilities of overcoming Himself does not resign himself to anything, that is evil, he subjects  himself only to that which is good, beneficial and serving both God and man in creation. To resign into wickedness, evil and bad utterance is the lowest weakness, obedience  to good is the highest power. To resign oneself to criticism, condemnation, complain, anger, argument and evil task,  or resign to ignorance, suffering, and other negative intention is a reverse of sound spiritual and divine trait of a man, who want to change the cause of destiny and extend the goodness of God in the land of living  must always clamour for the goodness of other and ensure total inner peace in the face of challenge. Such submission to evil shows itself in a selfish and sorrowful life. We ask you to pray, fast and undergo vigil for those who want our support, some of us grumble and  complain of no time and no capacity to Fast. Do  you ever know the purpose of your creation?  The essence of your existence?  It means to serve,  both man and God so as to revert our ancestral curse and bless our future generation, in a such manner never seen before.  Nothing is by chance in life, everything is conform to rigid laws of divine and highest spiritual terrain   Your coming into contact with any member of your family or friends or those we implored you to pray for, are not chance, but a products of  destiny. We are products of destiny and divine phenomenon.

Man is not framed and structured by resignation into sorrow, doing easy things and subject his own body to corruption  and sorrow, but for final victory and joy. All the spiritual laws of the Universe  are with the good man, for good preserves and shield. There are no laws of evil, its nature  is destruction  and desolation. The conscious modification and change of the character away from evil and toward good, forms, at present no part in the common course of  divine consciousness . The conscious formation of good character which is called IWA must be the core of our religion education and spiritual growth. Indeed, a man can be useful, and helpful when  he is able to control himself, has unblemished integrity  and exalted purity. So as to be able to give sound instruction in the making of good  character  which will then be the main feature of existence, and of divine and spiritual education he has in creation.

Hence, established yourself in the knowledge of good , and sound moral behaviour and swim in the ocean of peace with your family, friend, well wishers and enemies alike. The unenlightened may see your character as weakness, remember that you come to the world without power, and your going back will be of no significant, if you cannot do good to all you have met in creation, never wish any evil so as to avoid evil repercussion for ourselves and our generation. No man satisfying the divine laws through evil, but man is filled with joy when his mouth, mind and work extol, and exalt others in creation and pray for peaceful existence of others. Hence, can you pray now  for ourselves and for others this morning, If you have not done that, do it now.
May God and His infinite divinities bless you.

True-discernment

Ela ‘boru, Ela ‘boye, Ela ‘bosise.

In our own lives we discover that it is much more difficult to discern between what ‘feels right’ from what is actually right, than from making the relatively easy distinction between what is clearly right or wrong. All things good are pleasurable but not all things pleasurable or gratifying to our senses are good for us.  We can miserably fail in life and put ourselves through much needless and avoidable suffering, stress and anxiety if we fail to make the distinction between what ‘feels’ right or good from what  is actually right, beneficial and good. This is where honest self-reflection, discernment, humility, personal discipline and Ifa divine guidance-instruction comes in. What distinguishes a child from a mature adult is that a child is entirely driven by its childish desires, feelings  and wants, whereas a mature adult is led by his developed reason, life experiences, understanding, cultivated wholesome values, personal discipline and discernment. Today we live in an impulsive culture that is pleasure driven and not truth driven. This impulsive and pleasure seeking attitude prevails in the secular and the so-called spiritual life of many. Some live in gross selfishness and others in ‘refined’ and socially ‘acceptable’ selfishness but it is selfishness, conceit and foolishness all the same. An alarming great many ‘adults’ today lack moral-emotional and intellectual maturity. They lack foundation, stability, discipline and orderliness. They are like ships without a rudder, cast upon the sea of life and being mercilessly pushed, pulled and controlled by the waves, storms and currents of impulsive desires, base and low (meaningless) selfish and directionless pleasures.  A great many adults today are no more than overgrown children: They cannot accept a word of correction, truth and discipline from anyone without feeling offended or provocated in some way,  because they don’t like to think with clarity, they just want to live their lives by how their own undeveloped, undisciplined, foundationless, and immature feelings leads them. In otherwords, they want to live by their feelings and emotions. They have put the cart before the horse! They refuse to accept the facts of their personal, actual and present condition. They confuse true happiness with fleeting sensual pleasure. They want to feel good and right but without living a truly good or upright life! They want to remain intellectually, morally and spiritually blind and deaf. Today the rule of life in a great many quarters is: If it feels right or good then just do it! This is the thinking of the animal world and not the one of highly endowed human beings. Even animals have better sense than that! So you see how childish and immature today’s society has become. From this pleasure seeking mindset is where corruption, vices, unclean practices, lawlessness and disrespect are born from. Instead of taking pleasure and delight in that which is truly meaningful, noble and useful, a great many minds and lives are  poisoned with a hedonistic attitude of mere pleasure seeking without any true reference to what is true, right and proper. Such people live disconnected, dysfunctional, self-inflated and selfish lives. How can they avoid and escape suffering, dissatisfaction and a sense of meaninglessness living in this way?! Blinded and shackled by their base desires and contaminated understanding they are unawares creating more suffering, disillusionment, depression  and dissatisfaction for themselves and others; like the blind leading the blind and together falling into a rocky, dark and deep pit of pain, anguish, meaninglessness and repeated suffering. This is what happens when we are led by our feeling and emotions instead of our Ifa informed understanding, intelligence, conscience and the guidance of worthy, proven and reputable elders. The former life is an animalistic life of needless strife, continual dissatisfaction and struggle whereas the latter life is an illuminated, orderly, satisfying and serene life, rooted in divine (lofty) understanding and personal integrity. If we have taken the time and care to study, consider and reflect upon many stories of Ifa and holy tradition, we will quickly discern that a great many if not most of the failures, mishaps, sufferings and unsavory happenings in the lives of the Orisa, Awo, Kings, Queens and the general populace etc., were due to this fundamental mistake of pursuing fleeting, petty, low and base pleasures, which when you really think about it and the consequences they brought to the mind, body and life of the wayward ones were not pleasurable at all. Momentary base pleasure with long lasting painful repercussions is what they found, created for themselves and experienced.  This is how the inner ajogun (enemy defilements) and elenini (inner antagonists) trick us. While intoxicated and spiritually incapacitated by blind and unregulated passions, pleasureable expectations, feelings and emotions, we do not see the terribleness and shamefulness of our present actions and the more terrrible and shameful consequences that they will undoubtedly bring. We are lulled to sleep in the dingy bed of false, unbecoming, base and shameful desires, feelings, actions and emotions. This is why we need to ponder and consider the way we have been living our lives carefully. Many people see the cause of their problems as existing outside of themselves but in most cases they themselves are the cause, root and source of their own life problems. When they fail to accept this reality they go in search of imaginary or supernatural excuses or causes to explain their current state, condition and predicament. Ifa teaches us how to live, think and behave so as to avoid and escape the sorrow, suffering, illness, pain, dissatisfaction and shame. Ifa is mostly about prevention. One pound of prevention is better than one hundred pounds of cure. Responsibility, discipline and genuine desire
for spiritual-intellectual and moral growth is the heart and aim of Ifa. You might not want to hear this but sometimes the bitter tasting medicine is the most effective cure! Ifa is not here to make you financially rich! If you want to be financially rich then you have to study and prepare yourself with an honorable career which will compensate you for your many years of  dedication, work and effort. That is how you make money. Ifa and Orisa are not dispensing money to anyone. That is not what what they are here for. Ifa is not for you to accumulate personal power and influence over others. Ifa and Orisa share their ase with you so that in a spirit of compassion, generosity  and kindness you can serve and benefit others and so that you can improve and correct yourself. Why should you feel prideful or great for the work that Ifa or the Orisa are doing to help and benefit someone. It is not your personal ability, power or wisdom which is benefitting others but the ability, power and wisdom of Ifa and Orisa. So why take credit for what you yourself out of your own abilities and resources are not accomplishing?! Ifa is not about last minute miracle solutions to our life’s challenges and problems. Ifa is about giving us the spiritual-moral and intellectual tools to live orderly, meaningful, productive and responsible lives. The virtue, blessings and ase of Ifa goes in our lives and gains great momentum only to the degree we live in harmony with and practice from moment-to-moment and day-to-day the principles and precepts of Ifa. The only master that Ifa will make you into is a master of yourself alone! Ifa is about the truth. The beautiful truths of life and about the sour truths about ourselves that we ignore and push into the back of our minds and don’t want to deal with. Ifa is about the heart and about cultivating and storing up the treasures of the heart. Ifa is about caring for people and thinking about someone others than ourselves! Ifa is about unpretentiously serving others out of kindness, love, generosity and empathy. Ifa is not here to make you a superhuman but to make you a true human being. Ifa will fill your life with peace, serenity, contentment and inner happiness if you live the truth that is Ifa. This takes real work, perseverance, patience and commitment. It is easy to buy materials for ebo. It is easy to make ebo but it takes work, determination and dedication to live the truth of Ifa. Ebo is secondary to Iwa. Without Iwa no ebo will be effective or complete. This is the understanding and true discernment we must have, embrace and accept if we want to live a true life of value, genuine happiness and clean pleasure. Ifa is for the maturing humble person who acknowledges that he or she needs guidance, help and support. Ifa is not magic! Ifa is not a genie in a bottle to satisfy your whims. Ifa outlook does not pull you away from reality or cause you to seek escape from reality. Ifa gives you a true, unvarnished but balanced and actual understanding of life as it is. Ifa immerses us into the reality of our lives in this present world and asks and enlists our support to take up the task of performing real work for the benefit, correction and upliftment of the world, of which we are an integral part and live in. Ifa is not about unrealistic fantasies, but about reality. Ifa is about actuality. I hope that these sober considerations serve to correct and adjust the minds, thinking and lives of many. It is time to get real and to make the best use of our lives and time. It is up to you. You can remain childish and immature if you want or you can take to the path of truth, courage, personal discipline and maturity. Don’t preach, don’t discourse, don’t talk and talk and talk. Live! Practice! Demonstrate with your life what you know! Stop wasting your time procrastinating and forever planning and simply get to the actual implementation of all your talking, planning and thinking. Take responsibility for your own life and own it.Stop blaming others, society and your upbringing for your present failures and bad choices. Stop making yourself a victim and stop looking for excuses to do nothing but live a lazy and fruitless life. Put an end to the pity party and do something about your life and with your life. Stop sitting around and just waiting for some miracle to happen that is going to make all things good in your life and fix everything in your life.  It’s never going to happen. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Without your personal continual commitment, participation and involvement nothing meaningful and satisfying will be accomplished by you.Ifa and Orisa are not going to take up your responsibilities for you. What do you think? Ifa and Orisa will be working while you lazily sit and live a passive, uninvolved, complacent and indulgent lifestyle?! Dear friends do not be alarmed by the tone of this message. Know that it is offered in good faith and true concern. Some things cannot be sugar coated. Please think and reflect upon the above message. Promote your true happiness and wellbeing. Appreciate the preciousness and fragility of life. With every breath we take time is running out. Use your time wisely and live meaningfully.

Alcohol

Aboru aboye.
From one of our members in Italy:
Did you know that word “ALCOHOL” originally means BODY EATING SPIRIT?
Although it is mass produced, mass promoted, legal, and ingested by a multitude of people all over the world, most people don’t ever consider or understand the spiritual consequences of drinking alcohol.
Alcohol consumption is widely accepted in our society, associated with partying, celebrations and events (such as weddings). Beer and liquor companies market their products with slick advertisements, portraying beautiful women, popularity and success.
While it is not only accepted, but legal to consume alcohol in the United States, there is a side to its consumption that is often overlooked, which is the spiritual consequences of drinking. Most Americans choose to turn a blind eye to any consequences that may result from the consumption of alcoholic beverages, and many of those that do acknowledge this reality see only the potential physical ramifications.
As a starting point, look at the roof of the world alcohol itself. “Alcohol” is derived from the Arabic “al-kuhl”, a word that means “body eating spirit”. This word is also the origin for the English word “ghoul.” Middle Eastern folklore tells of a ghoul as an evil demon, which was believed to consume human bodies, specifically children and stolen corpses.
Both “alcohol” and “alembic” are metaphors for aqua vitae, or “life water.” Also interesting to note, the world “spirit” refers to a distilled liquid, which can be traced back to Middle Eastern alchemy.
In a Facebook post, health writer Jason Christoff wrote:
“The word “alcohol” is said to come from the arabic term “Al-khul” which means “BODY-EATING SPIRIT” (also, is the origin of the term” ghoul”).
In alchemy, alcohol is used to extract the soul essence of an entity. Hence its’ use in extracting essences for essential oils, and the sterilization of medical instruments. By consuming alcohol into the body, it in effect extracts the very essence of the soul, allowing the body to be more susceptible to neighboring entities most of which are of low frequencies. (why do you think we call certain alcoholic beverages “SPIRITS”). That is why people who consume excessive amounts of alcohol often black out, not remembering what happened. This happens when the good soul (we were sent here with) leaves because the living conditions are too polluted and too traumatic to tolerate. The good soul jettisons the body, staying connected on a tether, and a dark entity takes the body for a joy ride around the block, often in a hedonistic and self serving illogical rampage. Our bodies are cars for spirits. If one spirit leaves, another can take the car for a ride.
Essentially when someone goes dark after drinking alcohol or polluting themselves in many other ways, their body often becomes possessed by another entity. Have you ever felt different, more sexual, more violent, less rational and less logical………after drinking alcohol? Are you aware we already live inside an ancient religious cult who are schooled concerning the dark powers of alcohol? It is this cult that popularizes alcohol, through the media and government it controls, to serve a very ancient and dark agenda.
The solutions to our crumbling society are only to be found within our non polluted collective humanity, not within modern science and the death cult it represents, Our dark and immoral human farmers masquerade as altruistic governments, who then serve us up to dark spiritual entities that feed off our energies when we consume alcohol and a host of other toxic substances they rain down from the top of the ruling pyramid. We’re slaves living on an elaborate control grid…..based on indoctrination, propaganda, chemical sedation, toxic medication and we’re even used as food energy for dark spirits who live outside the frequency of visible sight.

Oracle Or Divination?

Blessings of long life and prosperity to you by the unfailing and efficacious blessings of Iworiwofun. Ase.

Today I would like us to briefly consider the interesting subject of Ifa in its aspect as a divinely authorized system imbued with divine life and intelligence and through which we can obtain clear, precise, specific, personal, insightful and pragmatic instructions from Olodumare which has a verifiable and significant bearing upon our lives in such a revelatory (personal) manner that there is no doubt that the Divine Olodumare is revealing things to us in a personal, astounding and lofty way through Ifa.
In common usage today the word ‘divination’, is the word used to describe the process of consulting Ifa-Olodumare. Is this word correct? Is Ifa a ‘divination’ system? Well, it all depends on your personal understanding of the exact meaning of the word divination. Personally I do not agree that Ifa is a ‘divinatory system’ and that the word ‘divination’ is the right, correct and/or accurate word to use when referring to consulting the guidance, wisdom and power of Olodumare through Orunmila (IFA). I will share my views and thoughts with you as to why I uphold my perspective and I’ll leave it up to you to make up your own mind whether ‘divination’ is the right word to use when we are referring to consulting Ifa.
That the mechanics by which we obtain Odu Ifa and that other procedural processes of Ifa consultation are orderly and systematic no one can doubt. Something being orderly and systematic is one thing and something being ‘divinatory’ is another thing altogether.
The word divination in the English language implies a process by which to arrive at answers via a method or system based mostly on probability, relative and limited capacity of intuition and/or guesswork. In others words, in ‘divination’ there is an element of uncertainty, possibility of error and incompleteness. Personally I would not want to make any real life decisions and choices based on any kind of ‘divination’ or ‘divination system’ because those systems operate on the principle of probability, relative and untrained limited intuition, and/or guesswork. Something can be probable but that doesn’t mean that it is true. Someone can make a very good, educated and intelligent guess and still be very wrong about something. A person can intuit something and discover that his or her intuition was wrong, unreliable and inconsistent.
It is truth, reality, actuality that we want; clear, realistic, accurate and verifiable truth is what we are seeking. This desired level of knowledge, understanding and wisdom or truth can only come from a Perfect Divine Source and cannot be the handiwork of probability, guesswork, and/or incomplete and narrow personal experiences nor the product of finite human intelligence and relative intuitional ability. Divination is not a sure and reliable thing. Divination guarantees nothing. At best it is a refined way of guessing, affirming what one already knows or hoping something is so. To make choices and decisions that are going to have real consequences and repercussions based on ‘divination’ i.e. hopeful guesswork, mere probability and an uninformed, untrained and unguided intuition does not seem to me to be an intelligent option, at least not for me.
Ifa does not operate like this and therefore the word ‘divination’ or ‘divination system’ is not the accurate terminology to capture and express Ifa and its sacred methodology of divine procedence. This use of the word ‘divination’ or ‘divination system’ in relation to consulting Ifa and Orunmila has become so entrenched that only with great patience and accurate explanations can this misnomer be corrected and a more accurate and more becoming term be utilized.
If I am a Medical Doctor of Cardiology and you came to me to ascertain the nature of your particular and serious heart ailment, I am sure that you would run away as fast as your legs could carry you if I told you that I am going to ‘divinate’ to see what your heart problem is and whether heart surgery is the best option! You do not want me to ‘divinate’ i.e. guess anything. You came to consult with me so that I can tell you what I cent per cent ‘KNOW’ about your ailment and what real and effective treatments we could apply to treat and cure you. Well, when we come to Orunmila, we are coming to consult the expert doctor who knows. Orunmila will not be getting me to do anything if he is ‘divinating’ i.e. giving me his best guess. No way. Not ever. Orunmila is an educated, highly trained, superbly endowed expert in all matters relating to our lives by virtue of the blessings, guidance, preparation and training he received from OLODUMARE’S DIVINE UNIVERSITY OF UNIVERSAL WISDOM, DIVINE HEALING MEDICINE, COMPASSIONATE COUNSELING AND REAL PRACTICAL DIVINE TECHNOLOGIES AND APPLICATIONS LEADING TO IMMEDIATE BENEFICIAL AND PERSONALLY VERIFIABLE RESULTS. ORUNMILA got his many PH.D.’s and DIVINE MEDICINE, DIVINE SCIENCE and PSYCHOLOGY High Degrees in Olodumare’s divine school of divine instruction and training for Irunmole. When you consult Divine Professor Ifa and Dr. Orunmila you can be sure you will be getting the precise diagnosis and most reliable, effective and beneficial treatment plan. No guesswork but true knowledge, understanding and wisdom, having its source and center in Olodumare and not the finite, unreliable and imperfect human intelligence. So, when you see your doctor, and he performs tests and then gives you the treatment plan with prescription medications, you do not say the Doctor ‘divinated’ these things for you, neither do you say that you ‘divined’ with your Doctor. You say you consulted your doctor who is competent and trustworthy due to his many years of study, training, understanding, experience and application. Am I correct? In like manner we consult Ifa through Orunmila.
Ifa is a Living Oracle and Oracular system which is not the same as saying ‘divination’ or ‘divination system’. It is not a game of symantics or word play. If words are going to hold a value and meaning for us that meaning must be clear, precise and accurate. Words are sound symbols for meanings and values. An Oracle on the other hand is a living intelligent divine agent that is immediately and directly communicating to us through some divinely authorized and established means. Ifa Priests are skilled, intelligent, well studied, well trained  and divinely inspired (empowered) INTERPRETERS (Doctors) of the Divine Message which has been chosen and sent by Olodumare specifically to you, to bring remedy, solution and correction to your problem, situation and/or ailment. To call a Babalawo a ‘diviner’ is beneath his dignity and station as a servant of Olodumare, as a disciple of Orunmila and as an embodiment and living sanctuary of the Spirit of Limitless Light and Life i.e. Ifa.
When we approach an expert awo, we are not interested in his personal human opinions neither have we come to consult him per se. We have come to consult Olodumare (Ifa and Orunmila) through the mediatorship qualifications, divine grace and training of the bonafide awo.
Ancient awo who trained, learned and walked with Ifa and followed the teachings, example and instructions of Orunmila were seers, sages, saviours, visionaries, divine priests and prophets not mere ‘diviners’. There have been in recent past times and there are at present devotee’s of Ifa whose lives are so in keeping with the principles and divine pattern established by Ifa and Orunmila that without even casting Opele, Odu or utilizing Ikin they can speak with the clarity, specificity, depth, uncovering-revealing power, insightfulness and truthfulness of Ifa. These men were and are Ifa divine seers vested with power. In ancient times these divine, rare and spiritually cultured men were proudly known as oso. These divine men were held in great regard and esteem. This word ‘oso’ is also used today to refer to wizards or sorcerers but this valid word ‘oso’ is not just limited to these contemporary meanings of wizards or sorcerers. Divine men filled with the power and wisdom of Ifa were also called Oso (divine seers, sages- men of divine knowledge, power, charisma and influence). Over time many charlatans, miscreants, practioners of ignorant superstition, pseudo spirituality and pretenders corrupted the dignity, prestige and true meaning of the sacred word oso and the sacred order of oso which also referred to initiated men (awo) who were so in tune with and in harmony with Ifa and the manner of character and life of Orunmila that they could perceive, experience and relate things with a remarkable resemblance to the ways of the Irunmole. These men displayed gracefulness, power, respect inspiring character, charisma and deep wisdom in all they did. They were empowered to inspire and transform hearts and minds. But without going to far from the main topic perhaps at a later time we can consider that most interesting and important topic of divine oso (empowered divine seers) on another occasion.
To resume, Ifa is a divine, holy and omniscient guiding power which expresses and reveals itself, it’s wisdom, guidance, power and inspiration through the instrumentality of Awo, Sacred Methodology, Opele, Memorized Ifa Scripture, Ikin, Opon and Ibo. And especially through Irunmole Orunmila the divine prophet, seer and revelator who is one with the Ifa spirit of limitless light and life who guides all awo whether they are babalawo or not. Orunmila is able to appear and reveal himself and his mysteries to his devoted followers in many ways, when he deems it prudent and necessary to do so. I pray this message meets you well and encourages you to understand  and appreciate Ifa on a more sublime and elevated level which Ifa and Orunmila deserve.

A guidance for good, healthy meaningful life.

Long life and good health to you by the blessings of Iworiwofun. Ase.

The authentic devotee of Ifa is easily identified by his or her moral-spiritual transformation. Ifa comes into our lives to bestow divine grace, peace, resolve, meaning, intelligence, inner strength, purity and love. These divine blessings and powerful endowments are given to us to enable and embolden us in our effort to pursue and gain Ifayelele (divine awakening, harmony and moral-spiritual-emotional-intellectual maturity). The [true] follower of Ifa can be discerned by the efforts he or she makes to uproot unwholesome tendencies and habits and replace them with divine qualities and wholesome habits. The enlightened Ifa devotee is never content with his or her present moral-spiritual level but is always laboring, pressing forward and exerting himself or herself to acquire new moral-spiritual terrain (continual inner growth, virtue, understanding and purer love). An Ifa devotee delights to strive and attain ever increasing and higher levels of divine grace, sanctity, purity, character, wisdom and power. To remain stagnant or stationary in ones moral-spiritual unfoldment is to retrogress and lose spiritual ground. A river that somehow or other becomes stationary or stagnant soon becomes the breeding ground of weakness, illness, stench and death but a dynamic ever flowing river maintains tenacity, health, sweetness and vitality.  Continual advancement and unceasing joyous effort is the clarion call of Ifa to its initiates. Until we reach the state or condition of non-retrogression (firm, solid, stable, unwavering, abiding and consistent moral-spiritual maturity) there will always be the risk, chance or possibility of losing what level of moral-spiritual advancement we have made due to negligence, complacency, lack of perseverence and strong determination. Only when we run the race legitimately and cross the finish line can we be considered true (spiritual) athletes, winners, champions, warriors and masters (masters of our own self, not other people). The mature and illuminated devotee understands that to continually grow morally and spiritually is the root, foundation and aim of all Ifa studies and practices. This spiritual process of growth and development cannot be had by proxy. Inner growth and development is obtained by personal determined effort, continual engagement, honest self-analysis and consistent exercise.  No one can give you their well and hard earned intellectual-spiritual divine capacities, intelligence, character, gracefulness and inner spiritual powers. These things cannot be bought or sold or simply given. They must be earned and acquired through personal consistent study, continual reflection and patient practice. One must qualify to obtain them. Each one must do his or her own work. Moral-Spiritual progress is the continual fruit of diligence, hard work, self determination and personal conviction. Divine grace empower us and Divine Wisdom informs us but we must do the work. There are no short cuts and no possibility of skipping steps or side stepping divinely arranged lessons.

Ifa shows us the path to follow and walk upon. Ifa gives us the just measure of instruction and provides us with provisions (diverse kinds of ase)  for the long journey but we ourselves must perseveringly, patiently and determinedly walk the path from its beginning to its ends by the strength and power of continual self-initiative.  Ifa will walk with you but will not carry you on his shoulders and do your necessary work for you. Ifa has one part and you have the other. You work together. Your personal effort, consecration, sustained enthusiasm, self-renewing initiative, thoughtfulness and participation is essential. This is why there is no need and no point to be made in comparing oneself to others. You do not know and cannot know the inner life, spiritual history and trajectory of anyone. You can only truly know and discern your own. We are all on our own unique and individual path. You alone are responsible for your moral-spiritual progress. You alone are responsible for your lack of moral-spiritual progress. You alone carry the responsibility to promote your own spiritual well being, health and happiness. Other qualifed, empowered and mature people can help but the responsibility rests upon you. It is your choice whether you will progress or not. It is your practiced determination which will advance you forward. It is your choice and action that determines  what kind of person you are and will become. Yours alone. Imitating others on their personal spiritual path will not help you. You have to find, discover  and discern your own spiritual path and follow it irrespective of whether others approve of it or not and irrespective of whether you will be accompanied by others or not.  No person can limit you except yourself. The greater your personal aspiration, inspiration, ideal and insight, the more you can and will attain if you so choose to actively pursue YOUR DIVINE IDEAL. One of the greatest secrets or greatest spiritual discoveries that all sincere aspirants eventually make is: That all times, situations and/or circumstances are ideal, just right and perfect to make genuine progress and to acquire purity (singularity of purpose), understanding, virtue, divine power and deep wisdom. It is not our environment or circumstances that determines who we are and what we can and will become. It is our attitude, disposition, personal chosen outlook, determination and quality of personal self-confidence that determines our inner and outer achievements and success.

Olodumare created us with the power of will and the ability to think and choose the path we will follow. Our will, choices and actions determine whether we are living our lives with a progressive mentality or a retarding (retrograde) mentality. Olodumare has given us the power of self-dominance if we choose to exert it or we can relegate ourselves to the self imposed status of victims of circumstance. Do not victimize yourself and subject yourself to self-pity which is nothing more than a subtle manifestation of selfishness and laxity. Be strong. Be resilient. Know and honor your true divine pedigree and identity! We are not strong or weak by artifice. We are strong or weak by our own will and choice. By our own will we decide if we are going to be determined, persevering and enthusiastic or not. Through self dominance we have grace, wisdom and power to master the negative and destructive emotions that arise within us. These negative, destructive potentialities and defilements that arise within us are represented by Oyeku. We are able to receive the light, love, power and life of Olodumare within us as represented by Ogbe. This principle of moral agency, choice and self-determination is seen in Holy Odu Ifa Ogunda Meji:

‘The Core Of The Tree Does Not Call For Water (was the name of the awo) who consulted Ifa for, When All Men Will Give Account In Heaven (before Olodumare).
‘If it is good you do then continue to do good. If you engage in evil deeds immediately desist from them because the hand will speak (reveal your actions)  and the leg will give account  (will reveal your activities).
‘You will account (before Olodumare) for ALL YOUR DEEDS which you practiced on earth.’
Holy Odu Ifa Otua Aira:
‘It is what Ifa expects of us that we should say. Let us speak (and practice) the truth.
‘It is he that speaks (and practices) the truth that Olodumare will uphold. Let us speak (and do) the truth.
‘It is he that speaks (and practices) the truth that Irunmole will uphold.
‘It is he that speaks (practices) the truth that the Earth will uphold.
Holy Odu Ogunda-Bede
‘Falsehood will cause the death of a liar.
‘Treachery will cause the death of the deceitful one.
‘Whatever we choose to do, even if it is beneath the earths surface (hidden from people) the (limitless) eyes of Olodumare will see them all.
‘These were Ifa’s declaration to he who stole at midnight and said the kings of the earth would not see him.
‘Even if earthly kings (human authorities and agencies) do not see you the eyes of Olodumare are surely watching you.
Holy Odu Oyeku Ofun:
‘Honest people are rare. Good people are rarer still. Ifa sees the intentions of the heart. Those who practice what is good, Olodumare knows who they are.
We have been endowed by Olodumare to a remarkable degree with the ability to choose our course in this world and the quality and kind of person we will be. The essential and fundamental  nature of human beings is Ogbe (light, clarity, increase, progress, fluidity and life). But in His wisdom Olodumare has provisionally introduced the training element of Oyeku (darkness, unclarity, decrease, decline, resistance and death) as a sort of spiritual weight or sparring (training) partner so that we can exercise, develop and strengthen our moral-spiritual muscles and our intellectual-intuitive faculties. Through the interaction and interplay of Ogbe and Oyeku moral agency, choice, satisfying selection, achievement and intelligent effort is made possible. Through the interaction and interplay of the Ogbe and Oyeku principles the arena is set for the will to be able to exercise, develop and realize itself.
So, who are you? You are what you pursue, practice and associate with inwardly and outwardly. You are your cultivated and nurtured affinities. Our fundamental nature or essence by creation is Ogbe. This means that the root, core and foundation of our being is of the essence of actual fundamental and potential goodness. While our inner essence is goodness itself this goodness means nothing if it is not challenged, cultivated, tested or proved and intentionally appreciated and  desired. You have to want to be and actually be, by your own decisions, thoughts, choices and actions, demonstrably good. It is a fact that from apple seeds new apple trees are born and from the trees new apple fruits are obtained. But if this seed is not cared for, protected, watered and nourished it will not even become a young creeper much less a fruit bearing tree. Not only the seed but the soil upon which it grows must be prepared. Weeds, stones, fungus and harmful insects must be continuously removed. Even the the tree grows and matures it has to be pruned so as to ensure future productivity. The apples you eat do not reach you by chance or accident. Someone intentionally took care of the soil, of the seed, of the tree, nurtured and cultivated it. In like manner you have to intentionally and responsibly nurture and cultivate your innate fundamental Ogbe nature. It needs to be said the Oyeku is not our enemy but a veiled friend. Oyeku can seem like a harsh and hard taskmaster but this is not the case. The heart of Oyeku is pure compassion. Oyeku holds out noble prospects for you but these must be worked for and earned. Oyeku comes along aside us and within us to challenge us and offer us countless opportunities and occasions for moral-spiritual growth. When we at
times feel the sting of Oyeku is only because we are looking away and drifting away from Ogbe. Oyeku is the strict and unwavering disciplinarian who trains us up and leads us to true freedom. The freedom of being mature, enlightened, disciplined and responsible people. Without enlisting the support of Oyeku, Ogbe cannot fulfil its task in regard to our moral-spiritual and emotional-intellectual training, development and education.
The manifestations of Oyeku like adversity, challenges, stressful situations and difficulties are for our ultimate good. It is not the fact of adversity, challenges, stressful situations and difficulties which injures us but it is our attitude, outlook and response to these that determines whether we gain benefit and advancement or experience loss and decline in our moral-spiritual development. These training partners reveal to us who we presently are and where we are in our spiritual unfoldment. They don’t make us who we are. We choose who and how we are by our attitudes and responses towards life challenges as well as by our developing perception of our own selves.
Moral-spiritual unfoldment is not glamorous or flashy. In fact one will experience many dry seasons and seemingly unfruitful seasons in ones spiritual career of divine ascent. To achieve deep inner transformation, divine gracefulness and god-like character is a work in progress which requires steady commitment, patience and perseverance especially during the dry and seamingly uneventful seasons. Steer away from superficiality and superficial (morally-spiritually uncultivated) people. Steer away from attitudes of laxity, complacency and laziness. Don’t try to jump steps or side step necessary lessons. Don’t fall into the contemporary practice of being a jack of all trades but a master of none. Honor your life and calling. Resist the urge to be impulsive and the habit of being a people pleaser. Stop jumping here and there and develop strong, firm and deep spiritual roots. You lament and wish there were more real and genuine spiritual devotee’s. Well become one. Be one. Achieve this for your own advancement and for the benefit of those who are seeking for the truth and its genuine representatives. Do not complain, bicker or lament but instead take steps to elevate your life condition above that which is mediocre, superficial (fake), insubstantial and unsatisfactory. No one can give you that status and inner condition. You have to develop it, work it in and cultivate it in the laboratory of your own life over many days, weeks and years. You will experience and have many highs and lows, ups and downs, and many moments of ecstasy and tears in relation to your moral-spiritual progress and development. This is a normal occurence but you have to be persevering and look to the finality of your struggles and challenges. You have to recall what it is that you are working towards. A divine quality of life has to be cultivated, divinely appropriated and earned otherwise it would hold no true meaning or value. You have to earn it, work for it, to have a right to it. Don’t look at others but instead look at yourself and what you are or are not doing with your life, privileges and opportunities. Don’t spend your time and energy assessing and criticizing others instead fairly assess yourself and honestly criticize yourself constructively. Ifa put before you two choices. You can choose the way of the genuine, honest and diligent aspirant (awo) or you can choose the path of the hypocrite (double minded), zig-zagging (unstable) and willfully uninformed (ogberi). The choice is yours alone to make. Do not blame others or find fault with others for your choices and decisions. Allow no one to take advantage of you but also ensure you do not take advantage of anyone. Do not ask or expect from others what you do not ask or expect from yourself. Do not make demands on others to practice and do what you yourself neglect to practice and do. You can only give what you have. You can only suggest and ask others to do and practice the principles of truth and noble character only if you have been firmly established in it for some considerable and observable time. Your words will lack moral-spiritual power, authority, healing gracefulness and uplifting potency if you are not a well cultivated embodiment of those moral-spiritual principles. Minimize the need for excessive verbosity and convince and win others over by the power of your actions, behavior, attitude and conduct. How can you teach others if you have not taught yourself? How can you offer others a hope and standard that you do not have for yourself? This is the teaching and standard of Ifa.
