Esu is one of the greatest divinities in the world; he is generally known as a universal or divine policeman because of his spiritual duties of enforcing divine law and order. Without the activities of this great divinity, the entire universe would have experienced confusion. Esu makes us to realise that evil awaits the evil doers at all levels, and goodness awaits the wise here and hereafter.
Man wants to live without caution, he wants to do whatever he likes, and man is delighted in his own immoral existence and his indolence. Man wants to assume complete authority but the presence of Ajogun Orun, that is the punitive knights of heavenly doom created fear in the life and mind of man, and thus enforce them to seek wisdom. Man does not want to worship or reverence any higher force or forces and consequently does not want to recognize any power or explanation beyond his physical existence not to talk of unseen energies embedded in the universe. The presence and the knowledge of Esu force man to yield to higher and unseen force of Olodumare and His numerous divinities.
Esu is the arbiter between man in the quest to deter evil manifestation in his destiny and attract positive lot to his life and his generation. Esu is at the middle of divergent world forces, Esu controls and regulates the two extremes – the world of happiness, joy and fulfillment , as well as the arena of destruction, hopelessness and sorrow. The wise knows that beyond the field of human knowledge commence the true picture of reality, the divine reality of life and limitless vibration pervading the universe, hence to explore this reality, man must connect, initiate or appease to Esu the adjudicator and arbitrator of these numerous levels of creation. Esu demands from those who have to give to those who demanded for it within the premises of sacrifice, initiation and propitiation. Esu is the divine force that guides those who are obedient to sacrifice and initiations and punish those who neglect spiritual instructions.

Esu é o árbitro entre o homem na tentativa de deter a manifestação do mal em seu destino e atrair muito positivo para sua vida e sua geração. Esu está no meio de forças mundiais divergentes, Esu controla e regula os dois extremos - o mundo da felicidade, alegria e realização, bem como a arena da destruição, desesperança e tristeza.
